Hi, I am Brianna Rose Lengel, an aspiring children’s book Author-Illustrator. Storytelling has become an orienting force in my life and when I started, I didn’t realize that every story would be a journey of self-discovery. Or that writing stories would feel so inclusive and supportive. I am grateful to be a member of SCBWI and Storyteller Academy. Prioritizing myself and my art has been a part of my healing journey after many years of hardship and chronic illness. Writing has allowed me to transform unpleasant emotions into an offering of love and joy. I am grateful to be a part of the children’s book community.

I grew up in Alameda, CA, and now live in Portland with my four kitties, Tati, Cookie, Ginger, and Foxi. I graduated from Mills College in 2004 with a degree focused on painting. Simultaneously, I coached a youth leadership program and painted 6 community murals in Alameda and Oakland, CA. I have professional experience with screen-printing and poster design and have been working as a corporate graphic designer for 12 years. Both have greatly influenced my illustration style.

I have been writing and illustrating books since the third grade, only recently discovering that this my passion. My teacher, Mr. Venable, had us write and illustrate stories and would laminate the covers. I wrote family stories, autobiographical stories, original creative stories, and one non-fiction story about a praying mantis. It was so much fun.  Click here to see some of my early books!
