Bear Cat

Inspiration

This illustration is based on a dream I had. Here is the dream:

I was in a large dark room with lots of bunk beds and people. Felt like a retreat, maybe a school retreat. I closed my eyes and wanted to get in touch with my subconscious. I saw energy webs that started to come together and morphed into vein silhouettes. I then noticed water suspended above me, it think it was running away from me. I got a little scared/intimidated and ended the session, not because I saw something scary but because I wasn’t sure what might emerge. I think I got scared of potential.

I then found myself looking through a children’s book and it had the most beautiful illustrations of a digger truck. It was having quite the adventure. I looked through 2-3 spreads where it was kind of buried in debris or household stuff. Very cute and colorful illustrations. Oranges and yellows were the main colors that stuck out to me.

The story morphed to a scene with a small metal car that looked like a battle-bot. It had zoomed around the corner of what appeared to be a cross between a cave and a room. On the second page of the spread, there were two figures that resembled a bear-monsters, similar to where the wild things are. They were dark figures and large, I think they had small horns. The answer “D” was printed on the page, as if the question had already been asked, “What should we do when it gets here? A, B, C, or D?” It then read “9:00,” as if that was the car’s location.
D must have meant tickle him because in the next scene, the car had turned into an animal that was kind of a cat. Black with a white stomach. It has stars on its stomach that started to illuminate and glow as he was tickled.
